My love for miniature art

Few of you know that I looooove playing with polymer clay. I make rings, earrings, phone plugs, figuries or miniature foods. The first time I knew about polymer clay was on youtube. There were videos on how to make cute stuff with it. It was love at first sight. I didn’t know anything about polymer clay or even making craft stuff with this particular material. It was back in 2010.

Every single day, I watched videos on how to make things with polymer clay. Then one day, I went to hobby world (which was hassamal at that time) and bought air dry clay. They didn’t have polymer clay. It worked fine. It was cheap.

I bought the exact shit. Yeah, I said shit. Once you know about polymer clay, you realised how the air dry clay sucks. But I used to love it back in 2010-2014

One of the first objects I made was figurines such as Harry potter, assassin creed and a geisha. Then earrings that looks like burger, gamepad, cupcake, ice-cream, chocolat, macaron and so much more. After they dried, I painted them with acrylic and glazed with clear nail polish (p.s don’t use nail polish. All my old crafts cracked -_- I should have used wood polish).

It is unusual to go out with a burger as earrings. It’s funny!

In 2015, I bought my first polymer clay materials! I bought them at jumbo, in craft corner section. Duuude! It’s sooo good to play with this material. My crafts came out so great!

Even if today I am 25 years old, wearing gamepad earrings don’t bother me. It makes me happy when I wear my creations. And making miniature items that have no other use than laying on a table still makes me pleased.

Unfortunately I don’t sell them. Or I will later. I don’t know. I rarely think about it coz it’s for my own pleasure. Or you can comment if it’s something you would buy or nah.

From now on, I will also post my polymer clays creations on my blog. Hope it’s not too much with my illustrations.

This MINE BOUI (noodles) was made with polymer clay. But all of the above was my old collections with air dry clay.

Speedpainting: OOTD # 1

I was looking for an outfit to wear for a birthday party and I got an idea; “hmmm let’s draw a cartoon version of myself with this outfit”. Instead of taking a photo in front of a mirror, post it in instagram and write hashtag OOTD, I found this way more funny! ;) ...and p.s I once in a blue moon take selfies -_- 

So I took my camera, positioned it on a tripod and started recording!

Annular solar eclipse

On the 1st September 2016, the moon shadow has crossed the sun and has formed what we called an “annular solar eclipse”. The event has appeared only in the Atlanta and Indian oceans. We fortunately got the chance to see it!

Back to school 

Winter morning walk

For the last couple of months, I been playing a lot with new techniques; editing colours, learning new software and improving my skills in digital art itself. I am trying not to limit myself in creating the same thing over and over again.

The only way to get better is to challenge my dexterity. I listed down my strengths and weaknesses. For instance, I most of the time I paint portraits in one specific head position, my artworks look rough when zooming in and the backgrounds are simple and incomplete.

Now that I found one of my weaknesses, I tried to improve this aspect through various videos. My favourite artists are Loish, Kiwi byrd and Webang111 on YouTube.  I benchmarked their artworks to draw my own ones. I said benchmark not copy and paste! Copying another artist will prevent you from having your own style.

  

Moreover, as I am a graphic designer, this process helps me a lot to built confidence. I can clearly say that I dare to use a larger spectrum of my imagination. It’s like considering yourself as a mad scientist experimenting with new methods to have the perfect formula. Hence, hope this will also help you in some way.

SUICIDE SQUAD

I saw the film last Sunday and I quite love it, despite lots of negative critics around the film. Unfortunately some people still compared DC comics to Marvel.

The insane acting performance of Jared Leto was highly anticipated. Duuuuuuuuuuude he appeared less than 15mins in the film!! But still, he was madder than fire! However, I heard that the deleted scenes of Joker and Harley Quinn were darker, showing an abusive relationship.

Well, this is my version of Joker and Harley Quinn.

I finally completed this artwork. I tried new techniques and new software, which is Paint tool Sai. I used to draw in Adobe photoshop before. By the way, this symbol represents a disease called Endometriosis.
